If you want to visit Machu Picchu you can go from Urubamba on a two-day, one night trip. The train to Macchu Picchu departs from Ollantaytambo, 20 minutes in taxi from Urubamba. The train goes to the town of Aguas Calientes where you can spend the night and visit Macchu Picchu the next day and return on the same day in the afternoon. You also can do a 1 day trip to Machu Picchu.

GENERAL PERU TRAVEL INFORMATION
For the travel to Peru is no visa required.
It is not necessary to have any vaccines to travel to Cusco. In the last eight years there has been no report of malaria or yellow fever in these areas.
Please only drink boiled water or bottled water. In Urubamba hospitals & pharmacies are available for emergencies.
Urubamba is at 2,870 m (9,420 ft high), the air is cool and dry during the night and it is sunny during the day.
You should bring warm clothes for the evenings,
a sun hat, sun block and lip balm & comfortable shoes. If you are coming during the rainy season (nov – feb) bring a rain poncho.
Dollar exchange rate: US$ 1 (American dollars) = S./3.00 (Soles).
There are ATM machines available in Urubamba town.
Credit cards are accepted in hotels, restaurants and stores in the city of Cusco and Lima, but not in Urubamba and the Sacred Valley.
Please bring only new bills with no tears or writting on them. Bills that are old, crumpled, or have any minor damage will not be accepted in Peru.
